Colleen and Mark Donnelly

 

Tonight an audience at the University of British Columbia will be delighted by a father-daughter concert featuring two Thomas Aquinas College alumni, Mark (鈥89) and Colleen Donnelly (鈥14). The concert, billed as , in honor of St. Valentine鈥檚 Day, is set to begin with the 鈥淓cco la primavera鈥 of Francesco Landini (d. 1397), and then continue on 鈥渢hrough seven centuries and three languages.鈥 It will feature masterpieces by Mozart and Beethoven as well as many Broadway favorites. Notably, the production will also include the premier of Mr. Donnelly鈥檚 musical setting of Alfred Noyes鈥 classic ballad 鈥淭he Highwayman.鈥

An opera singer, teacher, and composer, Mr. Donnelly is most famous for leading crowds in the singing of 鈥淥 Canada鈥 at Vancouver Canucks鈥 home games. Since graduating from the College two years ago, Miss Donnelly has enrolled in the UBC鈥檚 School of Music, where she is concentrating in opera performance.
