Held each semester during Don Rags, Open Mic Night offers a chance for students to show off their performance skills to their classmates and friends, whether it be singing, playing an instrument or standup comedy. Many students prepare acts all semester to polish and perfect them before auditioning and performing.
With so many students from varied backgrounds, Open Mic Night is always packed with entertaining acts. Freshman Michael Griffin (鈥28) opened with a soulful rendition of Gregory Alan Izakov鈥檚 Big Black Car, accompanying himself on guitar as he sang. Brendan Seeley (鈥27) followed with an excitingly theatrical recitation of 鈥淐asey at the Bat鈥 by Ernest Thayer. Other acts included a hilarious skit by the men of St. Augustine Hall, an original poem by Thaddeus Gotcher (鈥25) and Bach Suite I on the cello performed by Donovan Carlson (鈥28). 鈥淚t was really a top-notch show,鈥 said Sebastiano Egan (鈥27). 鈥淓veryone enjoyed it.鈥
