But students did not make their way to a normal study hall session after dinner, like last week. That’s because, having discussed Euclid’s definitions, postulates, and common notions in Monday’s morning class, they will “demonstrate” the first three theorems in Euclid’s Elements bright and early this morning! To prepare, programmers departed the library, divided into their sections, and made their way to classrooms. A prefect or two accompanied each group to guide students through the art of demonstrating propositions, from clearly articulating what they will prove to knowing what steps of the argument to write down.

Thanks to the prefects’ help, students will face their Euclid classes with confidence! Nonetheless, when Study Hall came to an end, this happy alliance came to a pause, as the two sides faced off in the highly anticipated Prefects v. Students basketball games! First up was the women’s match. Although the students showed heart, the prefects were just too powerful, coasting to a comfortable 28-18 victory.

In the men’s match, the prefect team had the advantage of a few ringers in the lineup: Admissions Counselor Joe Guinee, tutor Dr. Joseph Zepeda, and Fr. Sebastian! The students were able to keep this game a little closer, but the prefects still claimed a decisive 25-18 win for the sweep.

When the final whistle blew, the players congratulated each other, then made their way, along with their many fans, to the Coffee Shop, where they found scores of Oreo milkshakes waiting for them! The programmers delighted in this evening feast while playing games of cards, foosball, and pool with Fr. Sebastian.

At curfew, students readily called it a night, tired after a full day. But many were expected to rise early this morning to get in a little more practice with their props, which they are demonstrating at this morning’s class.
