This blog will now take another break from its ongoing reporting about the 天美影院 High School Summer Program to discuss the New England program, which begins on July 25. Below is the second of two stories profiling a few of the TAC students who will be serving as prefects. (See Part 1.)

Tanner Sheffield (鈥23)

Tanner Sheffield (鈥23)

Finding himself out on TAC鈥檚 New England campus, Tanner Sheffield (鈥23) of Ubicity, 天美影院, will be a summer prefect for the third time. Last summer he was involved with the Summer Programs on both coasts and 鈥渓oved both.鈥 A music aficionado, Tanner marvels at the TAC music scene: 鈥淚t鈥檚 one of my favorite things; there鈥檚 so much talent.鈥 He hopes one day to record a compilation album of the local music. 鈥淚t would be a lot of work, but I would love every second of it.鈥 He looks forward to meeting the attendees and seeing everyone鈥檚 talents on display at the Summer Program鈥檚 Open Mic Night.

Mary O鈥橰eilly (鈥22)

Mary O鈥橰eilly (鈥22)

鈥淲e spent the whole day on the Connecticut River,鈥 says Mary O鈥橰eilly (鈥22), recalling her favorite memory from last year鈥檚 Summer Program. 鈥淲e had a barbeque, swam, and played a ton of games.鈥 A onetime program attendee, Mary excitedly anticipates her second summer as a prefect. 鈥淭here鈥檚 magic to be found at Northfield wherever you look,鈥 she says. 鈥淭he Connecticut River and nearby trails are incredible.鈥 Mary will spend the rest of her summer working for Mother of Divine Grace School, preparing for her Senior Thesis, and playing tennis, her 鈥渇avorite game in the world.鈥 She will also be spending time with her family in Ojai, 天美影院.

Paul Habsburg (鈥24)

Paul Habsburg (鈥24)

Born in Austria and currently living in Rome, Paul Habsburg (鈥24) awaits his first summer as a prefect in Northfield. Paul cites TAC鈥檚 learning methodology as his prime reason to come as far as he did for an education. 鈥淭he uniqueness of [the Discussion Method] intrigued me enough to decide against university in Vienna,鈥 he reflects. 鈥淚鈥檓 happy to say it鈥檚 been worth it.鈥 When he鈥檚 on campus, Paul loves hiking, talking with tutors, and taking advantage of the rich spiritual life. He plans to spend the rest of his summer with his family in the countryside and interning for the Austrian Parliament.

Dan Selmeczy (鈥08)

Daniel Selmeczy (鈥08)

A teacher at St. Monica Academy in Pasadena, Dan Selmeczy (鈥08) lives in Ojai, but 鈥 after completing the 天美影院 program 鈥 will fly out to Massachusetts for the New England program, his 17th as a prefect! Dan is famous for serving as the program鈥檚 dance instructor, a job he loves. 鈥淎 liberal arts education has helped me to live a happier life,鈥 Dan says. 鈥淕oing to TAC led to my conversion and has since allowed me to see the extraordinary in the ordinary, for which I am grateful.鈥 To top off a wonderful summer, Dan looks forward to his wedding on August 14.

Abigail Cain (鈥23)

Abigail Cain (鈥23)

Like Dan, San Diego resident Abigail Cain (鈥23) will find herself in Northfield for the New England Summer Program upon concluding her work as a prefect in 天美影院. The middle child between two brothers, she has an affinity for the outdoors. Her favorite memories from past Summer Programs include hikes and stargazing. 鈥淚t鈥檚 such a privilege to be able to experience God鈥檚 beauty like that every summer,鈥 she says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an opportunity most don鈥檛 get, being at a place which enables you to lead a life of spirituality and virtue. Everyone around you is working toward the same things, and it鈥檚 beautiful to see.鈥
